What Stone is Called Granite?

Granite is a light-colored igneous rock with grains large enough to be visible with the unaided eye. It forms from the slow crystallization of magma below Earth’s surface.
Granite is composed mainly of quartz and feldspar with minor amounts of mica, amphiboles, and other minerals. This mineral composition usually gives granite a red, pink, gray, or white color with dark mineral grains visible throughout the rock.
The most noticeable features of granite are its strength, durability and affordable price. These features have made this stone really popular with property developers. This stone is used in stairs and floors of crowded places.

Granite usage

This stone is used in pavements, lower façade, stairs, parking floors, and curbs. The unique colors of this stone have made it really suitable for cupboard surfaces which can result in an astonishingly beautiful kitchen.

Granite process

Although the polished kind of this stone is usually found in the market, there are other kinds as well which will be touched upon in the following paragraphs.

Flame

A Flamed finish is produced when an intense flame is fired at the stone, causing the surface to burst and become rough. This finish is used primarily for exteriors applications where slip-resistance is extremely important. A flamed finish cannot be applied to all stones; however, most granite and certain hard limestone are preferred.

Chiseled

The first surface treatment that humans were able to make on stone was chiseled, also known as an axe stone. In such a case, the surface of the stone becomes impacted and has a special roughness such as nails and sharpness. Stone chiseling is usually done by industrial machinery, but in some cases it can also be done manually. The chiseled on the surface of the stone takes it out of its slippery state and creates a frictional surface, which is why it is mostly used for floor tiles such as around the pool, as well as busy places and, of course, places with a lot of rain. They can be a very good option.
